Head of Family Law

Overview:

We are currently recruiting for a Head of Family Law Department to lead a newly established team within a reputable law firm based in Yorkshire. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced family law solicitor with strong leadership skills to spearhead the development and growth of our family law department.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the strategic direction of the Family Law Department in alignment with the firm's objectives and market demands
  • Lead and manage a team of family law solicitors, legal executives, and support staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Oversee the delivery of high-quality legal services to clients across various family law matters, including divorce, child custody, financial settlements, cohabitation agreements, and domestic violence cases.
  • Handle complex and high-value family law cases personally, providing expert legal advice and representation to clients.
  • Stay abreast of changes in UK family law legislation, regulations, and precedents to ensure compliance and excellence in legal service delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and providing tailored legal solutions.
  • Collaborate effectively with other departments within the firm to leverage cross-practice opportunities and enhance client service offerings.
  • Develop and implement training programs to support the professional development and skills enhancement of department members.
  • Monitor departmental performance, financial targets, and operational efficiencies to drive growth and profitability.

Qualifications:

  • Must have panel accreditation
  • MsQualified solicitor in England and Wales with significant experience (minimum 5 years) practising family law in a reputable UK law firm.
  • Proven track record of managing and leading a team of family law practitioners, demonstrating strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK family law statutes, case law, and procedural rules.
  • Excellent client management and communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and practical legal advice.
  • Business acumen and the ability to contribute to the strategic growth and development of the Family Law Department.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
  • Commitment to maintaining high professional standards and ethical conduct.

Salary has been left open for the right candidate.
