I am seeking a Managing Director to provide strategic, commercial, and operational leadership for our award-winning food manufacturing company. This role is central to driving forward ambitious growth plans and scaling up production without compromising on quality. The successful candidate will be instrumental in scoping out new production locations to support future expansion and will be expected to be present at the site regularly.

Day to Day of the Managing Director:

  • Deliver and develop the strategic business plan, focusing on business growth and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Group Financial Director to oversee financial performance, maximise profit, and manage budgets.
  • Apply sales and marketing knowledge to make informed commercial decisions.
  • Work with the Group Head of People to foster a high-performance culture and lead a management team across various departments.
  • Manage wage budgets and oversee the annual salary review with the Group's People team.
  • Recruit, onboard, and retain high-quality staff, ensuring their continuous development.
  • Resolve escalated customer, supplier, product, or personnel issues.
  • Champion food safety culture and maintain our AA BRC grade.
  • Take responsibility for Health and Safety within the company.

Required Skills & Qualifications for the Managing Director:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • At least 2 years at Commercial Director or Managing Director level.
  • Proven track record of driving change in a growth business.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to engage and mentor a team.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate plans into actions and KPIs.
  • Hands-on approach with a calm and logical demeanour in a fast-paced setting.
  • Commercially savvy and entrepreneurial with a business owner mindset.
  • Financial acumen with strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • People-focused with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • IT literate with proficiency in Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Growth mindset with a continuous improvement approach.
  • High personal integrity and ambition.
