Science Teacher

As a Science Teacher in one of our SEND schools in West Bromwich, you will be responsible for delivering a modified science curriculum that meets the diverse needs of our students. You will work closely with other educators and support staff to create an inclusive learning environment where all students can succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver differentiated science lessons that are accessible to students with a variety of special educational needs.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate individual learning styles and needs, ensuring that all students can engage with the curriculum.
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the SENDCo and other professionals.
  • Use a range of assessment methods to monitor and report on student progress, making adjustments to teaching methods as necessary.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel safe, supported, and motivated to learn.
  • Collaborate with teaching assistants and other support staff to provide targeted interventions and support.
  • Engage with parents and caregivers to keep them informed about their child's progress and any additional support needs.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training related to SEND and inclusive education.

Person Specification:

  • Essential:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialization or experience in teaching Science.

  • Experience working with children with SEND, particularly in a specialist or inclusive setting.

  • Strong understanding of different special educational needs, including strategies for differentiation and classroom management.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families.
