DB2 Database Engineer - SC/DV - Stevenage

If you are an experienced Database Engineer with expertise in DB2 management this is a role for you. We are based in Stevenage working alongside some of the best minds in the Defence sector. We are looking to expand our Database Management team by bringing on a DB2 specialist.

This person will be taking on the responsibility of maintaining critical database systems, optimising performance and ensuring minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and monitor DB2 databases.
  • Optimize database performance to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Manage backups, disaster recovery (using Cohesity), and perform root cause analysis.
  • Contribute to the design, deployment, and security of database storage structures.
  • Maintain compliance with vendor license agreements and manage software patching.
  • Support stakeholders by resolving database connectivity and performance issues.
  • Document database status, performance metrics, and maintain regular reporting.

Required Technical Skills:

  • Strong expertise in DB2 database management.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python) for automation.
  • Experience with VMware, NetApp SAN, Cohesity backups, and virtualised environments.
  • Familiarity with both Windows Server and Unix/Linux operating systems.
