  • Job Type: 6 Month FTC - Possible extension

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Category Manager to lead in the procurement and delivery of significant projects within the People category. The successful candidate will ensure that services are delivered in compliance with all Council, professional, and legislative standards.

Day to Day of the Role:

  • Plan and organise work to ensure the timely delivery of service aspects for which responsible.
  • Analyse and implement corporate strategies within the procurement category effectively.
  • Manage risk within the area of responsibility and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with delivery partners, providers, and suppliers to manage and enhance service delivery.
  • Create service plans that align with strategic business goals and comply with all internal and external standards.
  • Engage with external bodies and partners to secure better value for money.
  • Lead the development and implementation of contracts, performance criteria, and governance frameworks.
  • Manage and develop the category team to ensure a highly competent and motivated workforce.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in indirect procurement areas, including social care, public health services, and accommodation services.
  • Ability to deliver projects on time and within budget using structured methods.
  • Strong communication, influencing, and presentation skills.
  • Experience with public procurement procedures, including Competitive Dialogue.
  • Understanding of UK Public Contracts Regulations and associated legislation.
  • Proficiency with e-procurement and e-tendering systems.
  • Analytical approach with attention to detail and quality.
  • Degree-level education or equivalent.
  • MCIPS membership or equivalent strategic procurement/sourcing experience.
