Senior Social Worker - Community Long Term Team

An opportunity has arisen for a permanent full time Senior Social Worker role in our adult social care community service, within our Community Long-Term Team. The successful candidate will be based at Sand Martin House in Peterborough, whilst working within our hybrid model of being office based and working remotely throughout the working week.

We are a team made up of Social Workers, alternatively qualified roles, a Senior Social Worker and a Team Manager.

We are a generic social work team, offering support to people over the age of 18 with physical and learning disabilities, older people and their families and unpaid carers. Our team support a variety of social care duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Care Act 2014, and other relevant legislation. The Team support individuals to achieve their personal outcomes, work with unpaid carers as well as other statutory functions, such as adult safeguarding enquiries.

The successful applicant will have line management responsibilities and therefore experience of acting in a supervisory role is desirable. We are looking for someone with strong organisational skills and the ability to coordinate and manage the demands of a senior social worker role, with excellent communication skills and the ability to risk assess and analyse information to determine a direct course of action for those accessing our service, as well as guiding and coaching staff within their direct practice.

The service is busy, lively and interesting and would ideally suit an experienced Social Worker seeking that next step, or an experienced Senior Social Worker looking to expand their experience. The work is varied, offering the opportunity to become involved in court work, as well as other practice areas such as Continuing Healthcare and adult safeguarding work. Your own progression is encouraged, with our current workforce having been supported to progress in a range of areas including AMHP training, Best Interests Assessor and Practice Educator qualifications. Our ask of you is for a Senior Social Worker who is committed to Social Work practice and passion about supporting others through their social care journey.

We are looking for a Senior Social Worker who is proactive and adaptable with a passion for ensuring that the adults receiving care and support in our area receive a positive experience when having their needs met. A Senior Social Worker in the service should be strong and supportive and provide good quality support, guidance and leadership. The role is varied on a day-to-day basis and allows for a high level of multi-agency working, creativity and autonomy. The successful candidate will be part of an established team working across our Adult Social Care services.

Applicants would need to hold a current Social Work qualification and registered with Social Work England. Experience of working with adults is essential along with a good understanding of Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and other relevant legislation and be able to professionally utilise a Strengths Based Approach and be able to make risk assessed decisions to promote the safety of others.

The successful candidate will need to be able to travel independently between locations including out of county areas on occasions.
