Our Residential Short Breaks Service, enables children & young people to enjoy time away from home, taking part in a range of activities, making friends and developing their independence. Based in the residential area of Springburn in Glasgow, Short Breaks is a fantastic service offering family focussed support for children and young adults with additional or complex needs. We offer overnight breaks for children and young people from 5 to 21 years old.

Through a popcorn & movie night with a familiar film, playing a favourite game in the garden, or by providing the right sensory environment, our team works in partnership with families to create a home away from home experience based on the needs of the young person. It is a safe, purpose-built environment where children and young people's needs and preferences are at the heart of what we offer. With full access to our sensory room hydrotherapy spa pool, art and craft room and large enclosed garden, its great environment for our team as well as our children.

In this exciting role you will lead our hard working team as they provide the care and support appropriate to our fantastic children and young people. You will put them at the heart of what you do and ensure that the team plan and implement activities to meet the individual needs and aspirations of every young person. You will ensure that we provide the highest quality of care every day and night, so that our children feel safe, secure and well cared for. You will ensure that care plans are carried out, co ordinate and support the staff team, taking responsibility for the unit in the absence of the Team and Service Leaders. You will also manage the ordering, safe keeping and administration of medication when on shift and model excellent social care practice.

This is a hands on role so you will be involved in the general day to day support and care (including personal care) of our children. You will act as a key worker to identified children and contribute to the setting up, carrying out and reviewing of care plans. As a key contact in the service you will support the families and carers of the young people and empower our children to access local services and leisure opportunities.

Ideally you will be qualified to HNC level and SVQ3 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) but what is essential is that you have previous experience working with children, administering mediciation and managing challenging behaviour. What is also essential is that you are a positive, organised and pro active team player who has a real passion for making a difference in the lives of the children we support.
