Chichester College have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Technician in Theatre (Bank) at Chichester College. You will join us on a part-time, zero-hour bank and in return, we will offer a competitive salary of £13.92 per hour.

The Technician in Theatre role:

Are you passionate about technical theatre, and looking for a flexible role to fit around your other commitments?

Chichester College is seeking a bank Theatre Technician who could support a number of productions and commercial bookings. This is a flexible role which allows you to accept work assignments work when convenient to you.

This role could be ideal for a past Theatre Arts or recent graduate student.

You will join our friendly team and support our wonderful productions throughout the year. Recent productions include ‘Edelweiss Pirates', ‘The Table' and ‘Sister Act' which were all very well received and watched by many members of the local community.

As our Technician in Theatre, you will have relevant industrial or subject experience, whilst a working knowledge of sound desks and lighting desk would be advantageous. Some weekend and evening work will be required.

Key Responsibilities of our Technician in Theatre:

  • Facilitating daily activities within the learning environment, including the preparation of teaching resources and housekeeping.
  • Providing assistance to individuals or groups of students within the learning environment.
  • Implementing and maintaining the regulations of the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health legislation, including the reviews of health and safety policies and procedures in the workplace and undertake risk assessments.
  • Participating in curriculum area, College, employer/parent functions, meetings and promotional activities as required.
  • Participating in course review activities and the generation and implementation of new resources and action plans.
  • Monitoring and maintaining equipment and prepare replacement plans.
  • Ordering and stock take materials and equipment.
  • Cleaning and maintaining working spaces, develop a working environment and provide technical support and assistance for projects.

Our ideal Technician in Theatre should have the below skills and experience:

  • Level 2 Qualification in the relevant subject area
  • Relevant industrial/subject experience
  • Experience following/applying Health and Safety procedures
  • Ordering supplies and maintaining stock levels
  • Working knowledge of the relevant vocational area
  • Competency in using the relevant tools/equipment
