Theatre Technician

If you are a recent graduate looking to begin your career in Theatre Production or a well-qualified technician looking for a new role, then we have an exciting opportunity for you! Sydenham High School is looking for a knowledgeable Theatre Technician to provide support for all Drama and Music productions.

You will provide a high level of technical support for whole school events including performances, concerts, rehearsals and lessons in relation to production, lighting, sound, AV, staging and seating. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in the delivery of productions at Sydenham High School and to contribute to our exceptionally high-performance standards.

You will have a qualification (HND or degree) in Theatre Production or equivalent relevant experience, along with a good background knowledge of Technical Theatre. You will possess experience of programming lighting states and will be capable of assembling a basic lighting design. You will demonstrate a good knowledge of lighting/sound consoles and will be able to operate radio microphone systems.

The Performing Arts Department

Sydenham High School has a busy and vibrant Performing Arts Department. Performances take place on site in one of our three performance venues: the Westwood Theatre, Recital Hall and Longton Hall.

The Westwood Theatre is a purpose-built black box theatre. It is highly versatile, with a lighting rig which allows for productions to be in a variety of staging styles. The theatre contains a technical office, as well as a superbly equipped sound and lighting box. Technical programmes currently used include Capture for lighting design, documentation and visualisation, Vista for programming and operating and a range of options for sound and projection opportunities.

The Longton Hall is a large and well-equipped hall which contains a lighting rig and sound system.
