Housing Options Service Manager temp: Crawley, West Sussex

A fantastic opportunity has emerged for a Housing Options Service Manager to join one of Adecco's leading public sector clients in an interim assignment for the next three to six months, which may well go on for 6-12 months should the successful candidate perform well.

Paying a competitive daily rate of up to £400.00 Umbrella, you will need to work from our client's Crawley (West Sussex) office a minimum of two days a week. Our client is seeking a senior manager to oversee their housing and wider corporate response to the resettlement of former asylum seekers granted leave to remain.

The postholder will be responsible for a unified approach which ensures that the Council's statutory duties are fully met and an effective partnership approach with other statutory agencies and the voluntary sector is in place to meet wider needs.

The work will involve managing and co-ordinating the workflow associated with the assessment and processing of people presenting to the Council for assistance with housing working with and through a team in the effective deployment of available resources. The postholder will also lead on the procurement of temporary accommodation and private sector housing options to meet needs. Comprehensive knowledge of homelessness legislation, a collaborative leadership style and a flair for generating and implementing creative solutions are key requirements for this role.

The postholder will work alongside the Council's Housing Options Manager who manages the Council's core homelessness operation and will report through to the Head of Strategic Housing and Chief Executive. Candidates will be required to attend a face-to-face interview with the Head of Strategic Housing and Housing Options Manager following an initial discussion via Teams.

About you: This role requires you to be an exceptional housing leader within the homelessness sector with enthusiasm about the council's ambition to deliver positive changes and wider corporate agendas. You will be passionate about ensuring that services are delivered with the best outcomes for residents at its heart.

You will have:

  • Senior Management experience within Homelessness and/or Housing Advice, partnerships and the provision of supported housing.
  • Extensive Homelessness legislative knowledge.
  • Experience in working with partners to reduce rough sleeping.
  • Possess exemplary budget management experience.
  • Have managed relationships with members and be able to respond to complex professional or politically sensitive issues.
