Role: Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Contract: Full time, permanent

Location: Taunton

Salary: Dependent on experience

We are supporting a fantastic special educational needs school, based in Taunton, for students in years 5 - 11. Our school is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dedicated and resilient educator to deliver high quality lessons and support the pastoral care to a year 9 mixed class. Commencing in September, this will be a full time position, working Monday - Friday.

About the school:

Key responsibilities:

  • Act as a pastoral and subject leader for year 9 students, teaching across a variety of subjects
  • Manage and work closely with support staff to create a safe and enjoyable learning environment
  • Monitor student progress and provide appropriate feedback (through report writing and parents evenings etc)
  • Manage behaviour effectively in line with the schools' policies and procedures
  • Monitor and implement interventions outlined within EHCP's, also contributing to annual reviews

About you:

  • Previous experience working with young people is essential. Previous experience working with young people with special educational needs is desirable
  • We welcome candidates from a sport-based or coaching background who have many key transferable skills
  • Ability to teach across KS3 - KS4
  • Motivated to inspire and make a difference to young people, both academically and personally
  • Resilient, outgoing, enthusiastic and excellent team player
