Learning and Development Partner

We are recruiting a Learning and Development Partner for the UK arm of an international company with their headquarters based in Watford. We are looking for somebody from an L&D background who can implement the strategy, work closely with senior leadership to identify and develop training requirements, be hands on delivering training and work closely with external training providers.

There will also be some general HRBP duties in terms of assisting with the roll out of the wider HR strategy including; employee engagement, HR projects, employee performance reviews and diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Important: hybrid working on offer - candidates MUST be able to work in Watford 2-3 days per week.

Role overview:

  • Partner with the Senior Management and Leadership Team to understand the needs of their teams and plans to address both short and long term requirements with a focus on addressing any skills gaps for the sector.
  • Facilitate the delivery of training interventions, based on the requirements of the department
  • Lead quarterly Talent Review meetings and demonstrate tangible outputs in relation to the development of key critical role successors from the Talent Review
  • Lead the development of technical skills for key job roles based on the analysis of the technical skills gaps, support business in delivery of upskilling in key priority areas and using learning needs analysis where required
  • Support the Early Careers agenda to develop and implement the strategy for Graduates, Trainees and Apprentices and employees working towards Qualifications/Charterships, supporting to managers to ensure smooth delivery of structured development programmes and placements
  • Ensure delivery of company induction policy
  • Work closely in collaboration with other L&D Professionals to understand the whole L&D offering and be able to compile robust and accurate information that can be used in, for example: management reports, pre-qualification and tender documentation, industry awards, etc.
  • Identify and reclaim all monies relating to training and development from funding bodies, including CITB and others.
  • Demonstrate role modelling of, and be Ambassador for, HR Business partnering across your areas.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of how the projects are commercially viable and add value through people related activities
  • Develop robust relationships with managers, and gain their respect in order to be able to influence decision making
  • Manage employee relations matters effectively to promote a high performance culture
  • Support Senior HRBP in execute all annual events effectively to promote performance related remuneration.
  • Effectively champion the engagement survey and outputs to leverage engagement levels
  • Manage absence levels and trends effectively
  • Drive project talent review process, and work with ops teams to ensure succession plan in place for key roles
  • Ensure that talent is identified and developed.
  • Ensure that via the appraisal/Talent Review process, all people in agreed employee groups have current goals/objectives, against which individual performance accountabilities are measured.
  • Leadership in D&I
  • Support Senior HRBP to identify areas of skill shortages and any demographic trends of concern.
  • Ensure that the projects are utilising relevant corporate initiatives to build a diverse and inclusive talent pipeline

Candidate requirements:

  • Strong background in Learning & Development/training role
  • Good generalist HR knowledge
  • Competent to deliver training
  • Proven experience of developing leadership
  • Excellent and proven abilities in relationship management
  • Learning & Development experience
  • Ability to conduct effective learning needs analysis
  • Ability to facilitate basic Personality and Cognitive Assessment
  • Proven ability to coach line managers
  • Understanding of academic establishments and routes of study
  • Effective communication and Influencing skills
  • Effective facilitator
