Learning Support Assistant - Bolton - September start

We are currently looking for a Learning Support Assistant to join an alternative provision in Bolton on a full time basis. The role will become permanent for the right person after a probationary period. You will be required to deliver person centred support to individuals who present high levels of complex needs and challenging behaviours associated with learning disabilities, autistic spectrum conditions and mental health problems.

The provision you will be working at are there to support pupils who have either been temporarily or permanently excluded from mainstream education, for many different reasons.

Children in Looked After Care
Anxiety
Excluded pupils
Behavioural difficulties
Social emotional and mental health needs (SEMH)
Speech and language difficulties
Physical and mental health issues, disabilities and learning difficulties
Young offenders
PTSD or other trauma

To be considered for this role you must have:
Some experience working with people who display challenging behaviour
Experience of de-escalation training would be advantageous
The school will consider candidates that have experience in youth work backgrounds, or similar roles
Confidence to make decisions quickly
Excellent communication and the ability to build positive relationships with the students
Empathy and understanding
Willingness to enhance skills with professional training and development

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:

Hold Right to Work in the UK
Be able to work full time Monday to Friday
Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
Provide two professional child related references that cover the last two year
Have completed a safeguarding course in the last 12 months
Have completed prevent awareness training in the last 3 years
Have completed behaviour management training in the last 12 months
