Finance Assistant

Robert Half are working with an renowned business based in Edinburgh to recruit a Finance Assistant on an permanent following a period of considerable growth in revenue. Our client is looking for an all-rounded Finance Assistant who can work well under-pressure within their friendly finance team, but with a particular focus on purchase ledger. The role is based in central Edinburgh and will work closely with the Finance Manager and Finance Director.

Key responsibilities:

  • Coding all invoices to the appropriate nominal codes.
  • Inputting all invoices into the accounting system, ensuring department, detailed description, and sales number (when applicable) are included.
  • Ensuring all invoices are properly authorised by the Finance Director before settlement.
  • Ensuring all supplier accounts are settled by cheque or BACS.
  • Addressing supplier queries and issues.
  • Coding, processing, and settling all staff expenses and mileage claims.
  • Coding and processing staff company credit cards.
  • Coding all sales invoices to the appropriate nominal codes.
  • Inputting all sales invoices into the system, ensuring department, detailed description, and valuation number (when applicable) are included.
  • Ensuring receipt of payments from customers.
  • Creating auction invoices.
  • Processing post-auction offers.
  • Managing payments from buyers, including in-person, bank transfer, card, and online payments.
  • Updating the auction system when payments are received and emailing the relevant paperwork.
  • Processing settlement statements and related payments according to our payment terms.
  • Verifying vendors' account details to ensure addresses, bank details, and names are correct.
  • Applying carriage charges when necessary.
  • Ensuring appropriate paperwork and investigations are completed.
  • Adding relevant charges to vendors' contracts, such as photography.
  • Producing and issuing introductory commission agreements to vendors.

Must have:

  • At least 3 years accounting experience
  • Competent on excel

Salary & Benefits

  • £26,000 - £32,000
  • 37.5 hours per week

The salary range/rates of pay is dependent upon your experience, qualifications or training.
