Oncology Pharmacist

Mediplacements are currently looking to recruit an experienced Oncology Pharmacist for a locum role in Suffolk.

The pay for this position is £40-£45 per hour, and we are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible for an ongoing duration.

Successful candidates must hold an MPharm degree, be GPHC registered and have experience working in an oncology setting.

Specifics/System Knowledge Must be a pharmacist registered with General Pharmaceutical Council. Must have general hospital pharmacy experience as well as good knowledge and recent experience of Oncology Pharmacy.

Must hold the BOPA SACT validation passport.

They will need to have experience of both oncology and malignant haematology to cover the functions of this busy unit that operates as a satellite from the main pharmacy department.

Must have recently used the Aria Chemotherapy prescribing system, Pathfinder (Lenalidomide) and BMS ePAF system. Knowledge of Wellsky (JAC) advantageous.

The post holder is required to validate parenteral and oral SACT. This will require communication with medical, nursing and pharmacy staff. They will be expected to raise queries directly with the medical staff and act accordingly. Oral chemotherapy will need to be directed to the main dispensary after validation. Post holder is also required to have a working knowledge of support medicines used alongside SACT.

Ideally the post holder would work on site, but remote working would be considered after an initial induction period. If working on site, the post holder would also be expected to undertake the final release of SACT products prepared on site after undertaking the required competencies.

Purpose of Role:

 Provide highly specialised clinical pharmacy service to the Oncology & Haematology CDG (O&H CDG) including the in-patient ward, day unit and out-patient clinics. The post holder is expected to contribute to the CDG across both Ipswich & Colchester sites, but will be based in Ipswich.

 To develop the clinical pharmacy service within specified tumour types as determined by the Lead Pharmacist O&H

 To develop clinical guidelines and protocols for the use of medicines within the O&H CDG speciality.

 To provide support to the O&H CDG by undertaking activities appropriate to an independent non-medical prescriber as determined by the Lead Pharmacist O&H (dependent on qualification for this activity)

 To contribute to the provision of the chemotherapy preparation service by validating and final checking chemotherapy prescriptions.

 Contribute to the investigation of medicines-related risk management incidents and audits and implement actions recommended from such investigations.

 To support the O&H CDG Research and development team with regard to the implementation and management of clinical trials and audits.
