Procurement Manager

Your new company
We have exclusively partnered with a higher education Procurement department who are looking for a new Procurement Manager to join their team. This role will be reporting to the Head of Procurement within the business.

Your new role
The role holder will be responsible for a proactive business partner approach; providing technical expertise to shape and influence decisions with senior stakeholders across the organisation. You will be expected to lead the development and implementation of complex supply chain strategies, transforming spend with third parties across high profile categories to deliver ongoing value for money from business expenditure. The role holder will have responsibility for driving out sustainable savings and progressing the sustainability agenda.

  • The leadership of two Procurement Analysts as well as some junior members of the Procurement
  • Visible and trusted category lead for relevant areas of expenditure who develops strong relationships (internally and externally)
  • Establish, plan and implement 'end to end' category strategies using expert knowledge, research, data and market insights to determine priorities and inform decision making to ensure security of supply, financial savings and sustainability from supply chain.
  • Provide direction and advice throughout the Procurement process.
  • Providing leadership within category spending areas.
  • Identifying market trends through liaising with suppliers.
  • Category spend will cover STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and Professional Services Procurements.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in your application for the procurement Manager role, you should have CIPS (Chartered institute of Purchasing and Supply) qualification, ideally working towards/ or level 4, 5 and above. If you can demonstrate time served, this will also be taken into account for the right person. You will have worked within the Public Sector where you have run end to end procurements and competitive tenders in line with the current PCR15 regulations and have an understanding of the changes the new Procurement Act 2023 brings in for October. You should be able to provide examples of when you have mentored or line managed employees within previous roles.
