Business Development Officer X2

The Role:

Reporting to the Associate Director of Innovation and Enterprise, your role as a Business Development Officer will support the promotion of work-related programmes which include a portfolio of higher and degree apprenticeships, short-courses and other non-degree offerings.

The role will require you to meet with partners and potential employers, across all sectors, in order to secure income generating opportunities for the university. The role requires your strong relationship building skills to be the face of the university, representing them in-person, via web-conferences along with email and telephone contact. A self-motivated, professional and results-driven person will really suit this role in order to achieve the goals set out for you.

You may offer experience in events or apprenticeships, with the aptitude to carry out business development tasks or, you may bring business development / relationship management experience.

This is a full-time, 12-month fixed term contract to start asap and there are two vacancies.

The role is mostly remote, but with a requirement to attend events regularly so you could be on site 1-2 times per week on average.

Key duties include:

  • Supporting the Business Development Professionals and the wider Business Development Team with growing the universities customer service base by generating leads through targeted approaches
  • Generating new leads by researching organisations with needs aligned to the University's expertise and targeting these organisations
  • Facilitating business liaison and business development activities with the objective of turning prospects into income generating projects.
  • Supporting in the delivery of in-person events, employer roundtables and webinars
  • Keeping information on supplier portals up to date, tracking progress of new business through the sales pipeline and managing shared inboxes
  • In conjunction with the operations team, ensure that employers and apprentices are supporting through their onboarding journey to ensure compliance with quality assurance processes
  • Help ensure evidence packs for apprentices / learners are complete and accurate

Experience required:

  • Highly personable with an aptitude to build relationships with partners
  • Excellent communication skills including ability to write engaging emails and hold consultative client meetings
  • Strong organisation and time management skills, demonstrating an ability to work flexibly and to deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • High degree of professionalism and personal integrity; ability to exercise complete discretion and maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent record keeping and maintenance, with awareness of Data Protection and GDPR
  • Competent in the use of IT, especially MS Office
  • It will be helpful if you have experience of apprenticeships or developing and facilitating relationships between the HE sectors and the business community. (desirable)
  • This role requires regular travel across the UK but you do not have to be a car driver as they prefer employees to use public transport.
  • This role require a basic DBS check
