Job Description:

Are you an experienced Project Manager looking to take the next step in your career? My client is seeking a dynamic and skilled individual to join the team in Hemel Hempstead and surrounding areas. In this role, you will play a crucial part in delivering high-quality services to clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning:

  • Develop detailed project plans, including scope, timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
  • Define project objectives and ensure alignment with client goals.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders during the planning phase.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, including cost estimates, expenditure tracking, and financial reporting.
  • Monitor costs and work to prevent cost overruns by identifying and mitigating potential issues.
  • Create and maintain the project schedule, ensuring that all phases of construction are completed on time.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other team members to ensure timely delivery of materials and labour.

Resource Management:

  • Allocate resources, including labour, materials, and equipment, to optimise efficiency.
  • Ensure that the project team is adequately staffed and trained.

Quality Control:

  • Implement quality assurance and control measures to ensure the work meets the required standards and specifications.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to verify compliance with quality and safety standards.

Communication:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the client, project team, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Facilitate effective communication to ensure all parties are informed of project progress, changes, and issues.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs and expectations are met.
  • Address any concerns or questions the client may have throughout the project.

Contract Management:

  • Negotiate and manage contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Ensure all contractual obligations are met and handle any disputes or changes to the contract.
  • Address and resolve any issues that arise during the construction process, such as delays, conflicts, or unforeseen challenges.
  • Make decisions to keep the project on track, balancing the needs of all stakeholders.

Safety Management:

  • Develop and enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Conduct safety training and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and progress reports.
  • Provide regular updates to the client and stakeholders, including financial reports and status updates.

Closeout and Handover:

  • Ensure that all project requirements have been met before the final handover.
  • Manage the project closeout process, including final inspections, punch lists, and documentation.
  • Handover the completed project to the client and ensure they are satisfied with the outcome.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working as a project manager across a variety of construction projects.
  • Ability to work under pressure and multitask
  • Up to date knowledge of IT & relevant software
  • Experience working on similar projects £10,000 - £1million
  • Working towards or keen to work towards membership with a relevant professional body.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Knowledge of construction contracts (JCT/NEC)
