Mental Health Nurse

We are looking for compassionate, caring, and experienced Mental Health Nurses to join one of the well-established teams at the Trust in West Midlands. This role involves providing safe, effective, and trusted care to patients and working flexibly at the main hospital site of the Trust.

Description:

This is a new role within the Trust, aimed at shaping services around patients' rising Mental Health needs. Your role will be to act as the key nurse, assessing and planning nursing care requirements on a one-to-one basis. You will be the patient advocate, supporting family members and carers as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Risk Management: Assess and manage risks with other health professionals, regularly review and adjust care plans and environment accordingly.
  • Clinical Practice: Serve as the key nurse during allocated hours, ensuring evidence-based practice consistent with NICE guidelines and organizational policies.
  • Professional Development: Maintain and update knowledge and skills, participate in further training, and keep a professional portfolio.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to Health and Safety Policies and Protocols, ensuring safe working practices.
  • Patient Advocacy: Protect vulnerable adults, act as a Patient Advocate, and support family members and carers in the care process.
  • Care Planning: Develop and regularly review individual care plans and risk assessments, considering patient and carer views, and administer medicine per NMC guidelines.
  • Clinical Documentation: Maintain high standards of clinical documentation and ensure patient notes are properly filed.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues, maintain confidentiality, and show empathy and professionalism when interacting with patients, carers, and families.

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse with current registration in Mental Health
  • Degree level qualification, or equivalent
  • Demonstrable knowledge and continuous post-qualified experience/professional development
  • Current MAPA training
  • Ability to deal with emotional and distressing situations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Respect for the privacy and dignity of individuals
  • Ability to manage demanding situations
  • Ability to cope with exposure to aggressive behavior
  • Ability to plan own workload
