FP&A Manager - South Leeds - Hybrid

I am delighted to be exclusively recruiting for a newly created FP&A Manager position for a high profile and fast growing Yorkshire based SME.

Since their start up 10 years ago, this brand have experienced year on year growth, and as a result are fast becoming a UK household name.

The business brought and innovative, unique and creative approach to an already high growth market place, which over the last 5 years, has led to them become a market leader in their field!

Their modern and impressive HQ is based in South Leeds, where this role will be based along with the rest of the finance team. This is a newly created position, working alongside the Finance Manager, and reporting directly to the Head of Finance.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting the commercial decision-making process by providing insightful financial analysis, reporting, and strategic advice to functional heads and wider teams.

Operating in a standalone role, you will have the opportunity to work autonomously, put your own stamp on the role and play an integral part in driving the business forward in their next phase of growth.

The ideal candidate will be a driven, ambitious and passionate ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified accountant, with a passion for commercial finance, adding value and making improvements, and the ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders

Reporting to the Head of Finance and working closely with the Finance Director, the key duties will include:

  • Assist in the preparation of the monthly management accounts pack, owning the analysis of performance against budget and comparatives, identifying key variances and providing actionable insights.
  • Translating the financial results into key actions and working with cross-functional teams to ensure actions are followed through, measured and evaluated accordingly.
  • Closely monitor gross margin and investigate any anomalies to forecast, establish improvements where required.
  • Work closely with the Growth team to in the business' growth ambitions by providing robust financial analysis on current new business activities, recommending actions and assessing new opportunities.
  • Regular review of pricing and discount performance including analysis communicated across the business to adapt current strategies and propose alternatives.
  • Own the business case assessment workstream for the whole business, including assisting in the preparation, the appraisal and the resulting monitoring for success.
  • Conduct competitor analysis and market research to inform strategic decisions and identify growth opportunities.
  • Support with the budgeting process across the business.
  • Proactively recommend how processes could be improved.
  • Optimises cash availability and own and optimise the regular cash forecasting process.
  • Monitor and analyse overall business performance making proactive recommendations; creating mitigation plans as necessary.
  • Hold quarterly reviews with departmental budget holders to provide insight and hold the team to account for their areas.
  • Identify financial risks to the business plan and mitigate these where possible.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be fully qualified in ACA/ACCA/CIMA – Essential
  • Have a strong background in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting – Essential
  • Have experience working in e-commerce, manufacturing, FMCG or retail – Highly Desirable
  • Have expertise of working across various functions and interacting with non-financial stakeholders extensively - Essential
