Our Client, Reading Council, is seeking a Children's Social Worker to join their Team.

Responsibilities of this role:

  • To ensure that concerns and allegations about staff, carers and volunteers who work with children are managed appropriately in keeping with statutory guidance, local procedures and good practice to achieve the best outcomes for children.
  • To ensure the coordination of the professionals, particularly where the police and children's social care are involved, including chairing of allegation management strategy meetings.
  • To develop and be responsible for delivering expert independent advice and guidance to employers and voluntary organisations, regarding concerns and allegations about staff, and to encourage preventative safer practices within those organisations.
  • To work collaboratively with the Service Manager and Deputy Service Manager, and to provide cover for them in their absence.
  • To meet requirements of the Child Protection Conferencing and Looked After Reviewing processes in compliance with legislation, guidance and internal policies and procedures and to lead on specialist and quality assurance aspects of the safeguarding process for children in need and in care, in order to ensure that these functions are implemented effectively and to fulfil the Local Authority's statutory duties.
  • To monitor the function and performance of Local Authority child protection planning and children in care, to ensure high quality plans are implemented and that the child's interests are protected throughout the protection and care planning process.

Requirements of this role:

  • Must be a Qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England.
  • Must have a Social Work qualification (Diploma in social work, social work degree or equivalent)
  • Must have minimum of 2 years experience working as a Qualified social worker in a similar team
