About the company

Our client is a UK leader in the design, manufacture, service and maintenance of cranes, davits and other lifting equipment and accessories.

They are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Manager to lead their company-wide efforts in ensuring a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace. The HSE Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining robust HSE policies, procedures, and programs, while ensuring compliance with legal requirements and fostering a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.

Health, Safety and Environmental Manager - Requirements

  • Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (NEBOSH, NCRQ, NVQ).
  • Certified member of IOSH or chartered member of IOSH.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role within a heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Thorough working knowledge of LOLER and PUWER Regulations.
  • Experience conducting ISO audits and managing external auditors.

Health, Safety and Environmental Manager - Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain an effective HSE management system in accordance with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Identify workplace hazards, conduct risk assessments, and implement control measures to mitigate risks.
  • Establish and communicate HSE roles and responsibilities throughout the organization.
  • Facilitate consultation with workers on HSE matters and ensure their competency through appropriate education and training.
  • Monitor and measure HSE performance, evaluate compliance, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Lead internal HSE audits and inspections, manage non-conformances and incidents, and report on system performance to senior management.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure compliance with HSE standards and integrate HSE considerations into procurement processes.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response procedures, and ensure their effectiveness through regular testing and review.
