Learning Mentor / Teaching Support Assistant with excellent communication skills and a good standard of numeracy and literacy is required to join a new school within a well-established Academy Trust based in Hedge End, Southampton, Hampshire.

Training Provided - Whilst previous experience in a similar role is desirable, it is not essential for this role as training will be provided.

SALARY: £22,737 per annum FTE, Actual Annual Salary £14,493 per annum

LOCATION: Hedge End, Southampton, Hampshire

JOB TYPE: Part-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 27.5 hours per week, 9.00am - 3.00pm Monday to Friday, term time only (39 weeks) - Flexibility with hours can be considered

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a highly motivated and committed Learning Mentor / Teaching Support Assistant with excellent communication skills and a good standard of numeracy and literacy.

Working as the Learning Mentor / Teaching Support Assistant you will have the resilience to support a range of students across all subjects to maximise their potential.

As the Learning Mentor / Teaching Support Assistant you will have the passion to enable students with a variety of additional needs to reach their full potential and become well-rounded and independent individuals.

A desire to make a difference will be equally valued along with a good sense of humour. Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential. Applicants should have a good standard of numeracy and literacy.

DUTIES

Your duties as a Learning Mentor / Teaching Support Assistant will include:

  • Provide individualised support and guidance to students on academic, social, emotional and behavioural issues
  • Monitor student attendance, punctuality and well-being
  • Liaise with parents/carers and external agencies to ensure coordinated student support
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive year group environment
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of year group curriculum plans
  • Work collaboratively with the Year Head to ensure the smooth running of the year group
  • Deputise for the Year Head in their absence
  • Manage student behaviour within the year group according to school policies
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of year group policies and procedures
  • Maintain regular communication with parents/carers regarding student progress and well-being. Liaise with teachers, support staff and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student support
  • Attend year group and pastoral team meetings
  • Analyse student data to identify trends and areas for improvement within the year group
  • Contribute to the completion of reports and documentation related to student progress and well-being

  • Empathy with students and sympathetic of their needs whilst pushing for the best possible outcomes and maintaining high expectations
  • Good standard of numeracy and literacy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a good sense of humour
  • Can use ICT effectively to support learning
  • Professionally discreet and able to respect confidentiality on particular issues
  • Highly motivated and committed
