Assistant Underwriter - Corporate & Commercial

We are looking for an Assistant Underwriter to support our Underwriting (Motor Trade) team to deliver highly efficient and accurate administrative support to the team. This role will help write, renew and administer motor insurance policies in line with business targets and requirements.

This is a perfect opportunity for someone looking to develop a career within the insurance industry. A full training and development plan can be tailored to individual needs to support progression into an Underwriter. If you are skilled as an insurance administrator, claims handler, or account handler and looking for something new, this role will support your continued progress within an established and supportive team.

Please note this is a full-time, permanent opportunity. You will be based in our Maidstone office and ideally be onsite for 2-3 days per week on average.

Overview:

  • Prioritise and handle all work promptly and accurately.
  • Handle all queries in a professional manner and process effectively in line with service standards.
  • Produce accurate and professional documentation.
  • Process adjustments in line with procedures, including notification to insurers and issue of revised documentation.
  • Accurate population of rating and document generation tools.
  • Refer all queries that fall outside own experience, knowledge, and authority to senior staff.

Knowledge:

  • A minimum of 12 months insurance experience is required for this role. (Essential)

Skills:

  • Customer focused approach, with administrative skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail with the ability to process work quickly and efficiently.
  • Ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
  • Good literacy and numeracy.

Qualifications:

  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).
  • A levels (desirable).
