Controls Engineer

Location: Middleton, Manchester

About Us: Our client is a leading provider of electric motor, gearbox, and pump repairs. Founded in 2009, our company has grown significantly, servicing major clients in the lift and escalator sector.

Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining control systems for various equipment and machinery, ensuring seamless integration and functionality within our diverse range of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation and Programming of Frequency inverters (VFD)
  • Design, program, and configure control systems for electric motors, gearboxes, pumps, and lift systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair control issues to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to integrate control systems into existing infrastructure.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and updates to control systems to enhance reliability and efficiency.
  • Ensure all control systems comply with industry standards and regulations.
  • Panel Building duties will be required.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualification or Time Served experience within Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in control systems design, programming, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in control software (e.g., PLC, SCADA).
  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience within pneumatic.
  • Experience in the lift and escalator industry.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory requirements for control systems.
  • Strong communication and project management skills.

Hours

  • 8:00am/4:30pm – Monday/Thursday
  • 8:00am/3:45pm – Friday
  • 38 hours per week
  • Overtime – time and half after 38 hours
  • Saturday – up to 12:00pm/time and half & from 12:00pm onwards including Sunday will be paid at double time.

Travel

  • This role will require travel around the North West and will include company van/fuel card whilst on the job. Please note that the Van and Fuel card must be returned back to site upon completion of the job.
