Our client, a leading UK and European Patent and Trade Mark Attorney firm, is seeking a French Speaking Management Accountant to join their Finance team in London. Our client's main office is in London, with other offices in Oxford, Cambridge and Paris and a serviced office operation in Munich, the main home of the European Patent Office.

ABOUT THE TEAM

Our client's finance team comprises of 19 people who are, Head of Finance, 1 Financial Controller, 2 Management Accountants, 1 Reward and Benefit Specialist, 5 in the Accounts team, 2 in the Credit Control team and 7 in the Billing team. They have a collaborative working style which offers a high level of support to the firm. The finance team are all based in the London office and sit together in their open plan office space.

Role Description

To assist the Head of Finance in the delivery of operational services, compliance work and management and financial reporting for the firm with specific responsibility for financial duties relating to our French business. The role holder will need experience in dealing with French accountancy and tax matters, ideally holding an appropriate qualification from a recognised French accountancy body.

Responsibilities

Compliance Services

· Providing support for the preparation and submission of all relevant statutory and regulatory accounts returns for our French business, both monthly returns such as TVA Returns, DES returns and annual returns e.g. CIT returns, CVAE returns and similar; handling any queries regarding the same

Project Services

  • Providing support for project work of a financial nature or having a financial aspect, in support of the firm's business in France or elsewhere

**Financial and Management Reporting Services

  • To provide support for the Head of Finance, the finance team and stakeholders in the business in the preparation of management and budgetary information, including commentary, to required deadlines
  • To provide support in the preparation of the annual accounts for review by the Head of Finance and senior management
  • To provide support in the administration of partners' remuneration or reporting matters
  • To provide support in the analysis of general ledger accounts for taxation purposes and to support internal review and handling of queries from budget holders or senior management
  • To provide support for general reconciliation work as required
  • To provide additional reporting services as required by senior management, partners or other staff members from time to time
  • Responding to specific queries from stakeholders to help them better understand their financial information

OTHER DUTIES

  • Keeping the Head of Finance fully informed of the current status of work and of any problems encountered, and to offer suggestions on how these might be resolved
  • Offering constructive suggestions for ways in which the firm's finance services can be improved
  • Assisting the Head of Finance on all matters relating to the annual audit process
  • Assisting the Head of Finance and other key stakeholders in the firm on matters relating the administration and compliance aspects of employee taxation
  • To provide training on matters of an accounting nature to fellow team members or to other staff members, from time to time, as agreed with the Head of Finance

PERSON SPECIFICATION (Skills/Experience/QUALIFICATION)

  • Qualified accountant, ideally with a recognised French accountancy body. We will consider applications from UK accountants with an ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification having a strong record in handling French accountancy and tax matters.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, coupled with the ability to create and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the firm
  • Highly proficient in both verbal and written French
  • Highly self-motivated, organised and able to manage a varied and challenging workload
  • Strong IT skills coupled with an enthusiasm for problem solving and keen attention to detail
  • Professional outlook
  • Able to work in a calm and professional manner whilst carrying out multiple projects under tight deadlines
