Job Title: SEMH Unqualified Teacher

Location: Solihull

Job Type: Full-Time, 5 days per week

Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) Teaching Assistant to join a supportive team in Solihull.

This role involves working closely with students who have SEMH needs, providing tailored support to help them thrive academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualised support plans for students with SEMH needs.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to ensure cohesive support for students.
  • Monitor and report on the progress and development of students, adapting support strategies as needed.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting the emotional well-being of all students.
  • Utilize a variety of techniques to manage and support students' behaviour positively.
  • Encourage students to engage in the learning process and develop their social skills.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of SEMH challenges and effective support strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or child development are desirable.
  • Experience in SEMH Settings, working with children, Health and Social Care or Security/ Safeguarding is desirable

Desirable qualifications/ experience:

  • Experience within mental health, security and/ or working with children with mental health
  • Team teach training
  • MAPPA/ PREVENTT training
  • Level 2/3 or BSc/ BA qualification within a child/ mental related setting
  • Full UK driving licence and usable car
