Job Title: SEMH Unqualified Teacher
Location: Solihull
Job Type: Full-Time, 5 days per week
Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) Teaching Assistant to join a supportive team in Solihull.
This role involves working closely with students who have SEMH needs, providing tailored support to help them thrive academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and implementation of individualised support plans for students with SEMH needs.
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, both in and out of the classroom.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to ensure cohesive support for students.
- Monitor and report on the progress and development of students, adapting support strategies as needed.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting the emotional well-being of all students.
- Utilize a variety of techniques to manage and support students' behaviour positively.
- Encourage students to engage in the learning process and develop their social skills.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of SEMH challenges and effective support strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Relevant qualifications in education or child development are desirable.
- Experience in SEMH Settings, working with children, Health and Social Care or Security/ Safeguarding is desirable
Desirable qualifications/ experience:
- Experience within mental health, security and/ or working with children with mental health
- Team teach training
- MAPPA/ PREVENTT training
- Level 2/3 or BSc/ BA qualification within a child/ mental related setting
- Full UK driving licence and usable car
