About the role

A role at the heart of Store Development, responsible for leading a team of 3 x Merchandising Assistants to deliver customer-led promotional planners to ensure our ranges are displayed in an attractive, easy to shop way in our stores. You will help to deliver the daily workload brilliantly, but also identify opportunities for improvement and efficiencies in a quest to support accuracy and right first time delivery.

Reporting to the Merchandising Manager, the Merchandising Specialist Salesplan Lead will have our customer, colleagues and our business at the heart of all decisions and designs.

  • Supervise and develop a team of 3 x L7s – hold great coaching conversations supporting the performance management and talent leadership process enabling every team member to be the best they can be.
  • Work collaboratively with a vast range of stakeholders to ensure rebuilds and new line updates are delivered right first time for shop colleagues. Adopt Project Management tools to ensure efficient and effective delivery of all plans
  • Develop an excellent working knowledge of Best in Class merchandising standards for the specified areas of responsibility. Build big relationships with key category, supply and commercial operations contacts, and coach the team to do the same
  • Work to continuously improve standards – highlight opportunities for process improvements and help to support merchandising as a Great Place to Work
  • Manage the delivery of planograms for all Salesplan activity in line with the company Salesplan schedule, ensuring right first time delivery
  • Lead the development of the Salesplan Merchandising process, to align Salesplan planogram production, with current merchandising best practice.

What you'll need to have

  • Commercial understanding - understands the key commercial drivers of the business- able to engage in great conversations with trading, supply and production colleagues
  • Great communication style that flexes to meet the needs of a variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to multi-task and manage several projects at once- works at pace to ensure deadlines are met
  • Strong relationship building skills and collaborative working within the team and cross functionally.
  • Ability to work independently - can act as a competent deputy for the Merchandising Manager
  • Strong team working and collaborative working style – willing and able to work within a team and support the whole merchandising team on cross team projects when needed

It would be great if you also have

  • General merchandising expertise and understanding of store operations desirable
  • Basic understanding of Project Management tools and techniques – critical path, stakeholder management and budget tracking
  • Good computer skills, and familiar with Excel would be an advantage
