Richmond & Wandsworth Councils are recruiting a Head of Building Control to join the team on a permanent basis. As the Head of Building Control you will be responsible to the Assistant Director (Planning and Transport) for the discharge of the Councils' responsibilities to ensure that all building work complies with the Building Act, Building Regulations and residual parts of the London Building Acts and other building legislation, the Safety of Sports Grounds Act, Fire Safety and Safety of Places of Sport Act and Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order. You will also direct and control the Building Control Service of the Planning and Transport Division and acts as Principal Building Control Adviser to Richmond and Wandsworth Borough Councils.

As the new Head of Building Control, you will have the opportunity to lead two distinct teams across Richmond and Wandsworth and manage diverse challenges from historic buildings to cutting-edge developments. Your role willoversee high-profile projects as well as the redevelopment of the are as well as, shape the future of building safety in South West London while working closely with the new Building Safety Regulator.
To be considered for the role you will need to be able to demonstrate a proven track record in leadership in a complex urban environment. You will also possess strong technical knowledge of building regulations, fire safety, and emerging construction technologies. Your ability to navigate the unique challenges of both an inner and outer London borough will be crucial to your success in this role. You will also need strong stakeholder management skills as well as the ability to work and thrive in a fast past environment.
This is a permanent role with hybrid working. The salary on offer is £78,594 to £95,508 + 15% market supplement.
