About the Company:

On behalf of an innovative company at the forefront of electrification in aerospace, we are seeking a Contract Systems Engineer to join their team. Established in 2021, this forward-thinking company develops and manufactures class-leading, lightweight, high-power, and high-torque-density electric propulsion systems for various aerospace markets, including eVTOL, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), and General Aviation. Their mission is to accelerate the adoption of electric propulsion and help create a net-zero world through clean, noise-free air transportation.

As part of their growth, they are looking for a Contract Systems Engineer to contribute to electric propulsion system development, validation, and verification activities. This is a key role in the team's ambitious plans and involves working on programs certifiable under SAE ARP4754A guidelines, up to Functional Design Assurance Level (FDAL) A.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to new program and system concept design activities, including internal product developments and customer-driven applications, through to system/product launch.
  • Support analysis and management of customer requirements throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Assist in the creation of requirement specifications for sub-systems, suppliers, and customer/partner approval.
  • Author and support interface control documents to ensure alignment with internal and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with simulation, analysis, and design teams to assist in system architecture design.
  • Evaluate system architecture suitability and provide recommendations where necessary.
  • Support customers, partners, and suppliers with systems integration of electric motors and controllers.
  • Develop system test strategies to ensure traceability and compliance with customer and system requirements.
  • Perform system Validation and Verification (V&V) testing activities.
  • Produce V&V evidence to support system certification.
  • Assist in resource estimation and risk management efforts.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Degree or equivalent in electrical or systems engineering (or other relevant technical domain).
  • Proven experience in applying systems engineering principles throughout design, development, and delivery.
  • Experience with requirements and lifecycle management tools such as DOORS, Polarion, or codeBeamer.
  • Strong ability to manage system design complexity and ambiguity.
  • A creative problem solver with a logical approach to solution implementation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A flexible approach to work and an eagerness to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated with strong determination to succeed.
  • Full UK driving licence and availability to support supplier site visits.

Desirable Skills:

  • Familiarity with aerospace safety analysis techniques.
  • Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) methods, using tools like Simulink.
  • Knowledge of motor control algorithms and their implementation.

Why Join This Team:

  • Be part of a pioneering company in a rapidly growing sector.
  • Engage in cutting-edge projects that are shaping the future of aerospace.
  • Work in a dynamic environment that values trust, autonomy, and professional growth.
  • Competitive contract rate for the 6-month contract duration.
