Senior Data Management Professional - Data Product Owner - Money Markets Data

Posted by Bloomberg.

Bloomberg runs on data. Our products are fuelled by powerful information. We combine data and context to paint the whole picture for our clients, around the clock - from around the world. In Data, we are responsible for delivering this data, news and analytics through innovative technology - quickly and accurately. We apply problem-solving skills to identify innovative workflow efficiencies, and we implement technology solutions to enhance our systems, products and processes - all while providing customer support to our clients.

Our Team:

In 2023, US Money Market Funds (MMF) held $6.1 trillion in AUM and Non-US MMFs held an additional $1.2 trillion in AUM. This is a growing market given the increased rates environment and fund inflows have reached all time levels. As a result, we have seen higher demand for this data from clients and are creating a new dedicated global Money Markets team to address the opportunities in this space.

The Role:

As the Money Markets Data Product Owner, you will use your market knowledge and experience to deliver a strategy and roadmap for the Money Market dataset handled by our data team. You will also partner across the organization to align on business goals, deliver maximum business value and enhance Bloomberg's product offerings. Finally, you will be responsible for the Data Money Market team's advocacy efforts, through contributing to consultation papers, interacting with regulators, and participating in industry working groups.

We'll trust you to:

  • Develop and drive a strategic vision for the coverage of the new Money Market dataset, identifying new areas of coverage, as well as those areas that require the adaptation of existing data sets
  • Keep abreast of regulatory developments and upcoming change, attending industry working groups, collaborating closely with regulators, and contributing to Bloomberg's response to public consultations
  • Partner with Engineering, providing guidance and direction as functionality and datasets are built out or modified
  • Liaise and collaborate extensively with the product teams to help design, develop, and enhance our Money Market offerings.
  • Identify and lead all aspects of implementation of efficiencies in our work processes, using technology to find faster and more accurate ways to maintain our data
  • Define what a fit-for-purpose data product looks like for Money Markets, and ensure that data quality is monitored, safeguarded, and improved where deficiencies are identified

You'll need to have:

  • Please note we use years of experience as a guide, but we certainly will consider applications from all candidates who are able to demonstrate the skills necessary for the role.
  • 4+ years of professional work experience in Data Product Ownership or related field
  • Strong understanding of client data needs and the strategic landscape within the securities financial markets
  • Proven experience in data management concepts such as data quality, data modeling, and data engineering
  • Proficiency in being comfortable discussing technical concepts and experience evaluating trade-offs in design with Engineering
  • Extensive experience in communicating and coordinating with internal and external partners while leading large-scale projects
  • Customer-focused approach and the ability to interact with a diverse range of clients
  • Proven ability to take a logical approach and apply critical thinking skills in order to tackle problems
  • Effective project management skills and ability to prioritize tasks accordingly

We'd Love to See:

  • Experience using a Scrum Agile Process
  • Deep subject matter expertise within Money Markets
  • Knowledge of SQL/Python querying language
  • Experience in semantic structures or data modeling
  • Experience using data visualization tools such as Tableau, QlikSense, or Splunk
