Commercial Analyst

Contract: Permanent. Full time

The Commercial Analyst plays a crucial role in supporting our commercial operations by providing insightful analysis, financial modelling, and strategic recommendations. This position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to analyse market trends, evaluate business performance, and identify opportunities for optimisation and growth.

You will also develop analytical tools to assist the business in surveying potential sites, ensuring we are making sound decisions on where to invest our capital.

Role responsibilities:

  • Conduct market analysis, monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics to assess market opportunities and risks. Provide insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
  • Develop effective analytical tools to support key decision-making processes, including the analysis and surveyance of potential sites.
  • Conduct comprehensive financial analysis to evaluate business performance, including revenue trends, profitability, cost structures, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Business Planning and Forecasting. Assist in the development of business plans, annual budgets, and financial forecasts. Work closely with stakeholders to identify revenue drivers, cost factors, and growth opportunities.
  • Develop financial models to assess the financial impact of various business scenarios and initiatives. Perform sensitivity analysis and scenario modelling to evaluate risk and uncertainty.
  • Analyse product/service profitability, customer profitability, and sales/channel effectiveness. Identify areas for improvement and optimisation to enhance overall profitability.
  • Evaluate pricing strategies and conduct pricing analysis to optimise pricing structures and maximise revenue. Monitor price trends, competitive pricing, and price elasticity.
  • Prepare and distribute regular performance reports and dashboards to stakeholders, highlighting key metrics, trends, and insights. Provide actionable recommendations based on analysis findings.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, finance, and operations teams to gather data, align strategies, and support business initiatives. Serve as a trusted advisor to stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Conduct ad hoc analysis and special projects as requested by management. Provide analytical support for strategic initiatives, investment decisions, and operational improvements.

Experience/qualifications required:

  • Experience in financial return analysis
  • Demonstrable experience within a similar commercial or financial role
  • Ability to identify changes and potential problems in contracts and performance
  • Ability to advise colleagues on commercial processes
  • Proven track record of producing reports suitable for management review
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial modelling, data analysis, and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a proven ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
  • Strategic thinker with a strong business acumen and the ability to see the big picture
  • Experience with financial systems and tools is preferred, and a proven track record of developing new analytical tools
  • ACCA/ACA/CIMA/CFA qualified (desirable but not essential)
  • Interested in the EV industry, trends, commercial principles and market dynamics
