A skilled Maintenance Carpenter with a proven apprenticeship in carpentry is needed to join our team at Hurlingham Club, a prestigious private members club in London on a full-time basis.

About the Role

The Maintenance department is responsible for all aspects of maintenance across the Club, including plumbing, electrics, carpentry, and general maintenance.

As the Maintenance Carpenter you will work full time; 40 hours over five days, Monday to Friday. You will also be expected to participate on the weekend call-out rota.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Being responsible for all carpentry-type repairs and renewals around the Club
  • Joinery, manufacturing components and repairing joinery items
  • Managing own workload as per the Work Order Repair System
  • Ensuring all tasks are completed within the set timescales
  • Being responsible for stock control ordering and maintaining your work areas
  • To assist other traders as required and directed to ensure a wide range of maintenance activity is covered to the benefit of the Club and Members
  • To be responsible for all carpentry-type repairs and renewals around the Club, this includes checking and maintaining a wide range of building components including, but not limited to, locks closers, fire intumescent strips and the like
  • There will also be a requirement for minor furniture repairs
  • The Club operates a Works Order Repair system CAFM (Computer Aided Facilities Management), the maintenance carpenter will be expected to use this system and organise their own workload and priorities ensuring all tasks are completed within set timescales

Required Experience:

  • Possess a City & Guilds level certification, intermediate or advanced apprenticeship in carpentry or joinery, preferably site carpentry or architectural joinery
  • Have good knowledge of domestic and commercial buildings with respect to carpentry needs and carpentry; this will include working with machinery, power tools and hand tools
  • Be expected to have their own hand tools
  • Specialist power tools will be supplied for particular works or projects as may be required
  • A high level of competence is expected for standard carpentry tools such as electric chop saws, cross-cut bench saw and the like
