Technical Officer

A client within the Public Sector based in West Yorkshire is currently recruiting for a Technical Officer to join their highways team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority.

The Role

Key purpose of the role is to support the Network Management Coordination Supervisor in the delivery of the duties contained within the Traffic Management Act 2004, Highways Act 1980 and the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 to keep traffic moving and to minimise disruption.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • support the Network Management Team in balancing priorities to manage, co-ordinate, and ensure safe and good quality road works across the District.
  • assess and input activities on the highway in to the various electronic ICT Systems.
  • assess, input and record into the electronic / ICT systems works and activities carried out under Licence
  • monitor and review works applications on a regular and continuous basis.
  • receive, review and process temporary Traffic Regulation Order applications relating to works / events on the highway.

The Candidate

To be considered for this role you will require knowledge of the Councils Permit Scheme as well as knowledge of the Traffic Management Act and NRASWA.

The below skills would be beneficial for the role:

  • Ability to read and understand mapping and plans associated with Highway activities.
  • Programme planning and management.
  • Awareness of delivering projects within a highway environment.
  • Experience of using ICT systems, including email, spreadsheets, databases, GIS/mapping systems

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £19 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35.
