Urgent need for a Senior Manager for payroll, pensions and benefits - 10 month role

This Higher Education client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Payroll & Pensions Manager to join their HR Senior Management Team (SMT). In this pivotal role, you'll be responsible for leading a dedicated team, ensuring the smooth and compliant delivery of critical payroll, pension, and benefits services for our entire staff.
What you'll do:
- Oversee all aspects of payroll, pension, and benefits operations, ensuring adherence to legal requirements and best practices.
- Provide expert guidance and support to managers and staff on payroll and pension matters.
- Lead and manage a team of professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Develop and implement innovative solutions to optimise processes and enhance service delivery.
- Champion effective cross-team collaboration within HR and across the University.
What you bring:
- Proven track record of success in managing payroll and pension operations for a large organisation.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations (HMRC, Auto Enrolment, etc.).
- Experience with contemporary payroll/HR systems, ideally including Business World.
- Strong leadership and coaching skills to motivate and develop your team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritise effectively, manage competing demands, and work under pressure.
Qualifications:
- Membership of the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) preferred.
- Accounting qualification a plus.
- Strong numeracy and literacy skills essential
