Intelligence Analyst

You will be working for a non-ministerial department of His Majesty's Government that regulates registered charities in England and Wales

Your new role
Provide data, analysis, and insight to support the Board's work, using appropriate tools, techniques, and systems.
Produce, present, and disseminate appropriate and relevant analytical outputs to inform the Board's tasking and co-ordinating process (including tactical, operational, or strategic decision-making) or for evidential or intelligence purposes.
Apply problem-solving methodologies to support the management of risks to the charity sector and the delivery of an operational response that leads to short, medium and long-term mitigation.
Undertake assessment of new incoming referrals from other regulators in line with the Risk Operating Model and refer for appropriate follow-up action by other teams in Regulatory Services as required.
Support Regulatory Services casework by responding to intelligence requests through targeted proactive and reactive intelligence and evidence gathering tactics.
Work collaboratively with colleagues in other parts of Regulatory Services to develop intelligence on specific issues, analyse findings, and draw appropriate inferences.
Deliver internal briefings on issues that may present a risk to the charity sector as a result of terrorist and/or extremist activities.
Represent the board externally and work in partnership with other government departments, regulators, and law enforcement agencies to support and promote effective information sharing, acting as the Single Point of Contact with specific bodies as required. Work collaboratively with external stakeholders to develop recommendations to support influencing strategies and maximise opportunities for action in relation to risks to the charity sector.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Good analytical and judgement skills to evaluate complex information and to support decision making.
  • Ability to apply problem solving methodologies, including finding solutions to identify prevention and enforcement opportunities.
  • Skilled in identifying and exploiting new intelligence sources.
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and work collaboratively, corporately, and strategically to achieve demanding targets and deadlines.
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders to develop their requirements and provide a quality intelligence service
  • Experience in evaluating relevant information and selecting the best conclusion from a range of options
  • Experience of working in an intelligence led organisation, applying a risk-based approach to analysis
  • Experience of turning data and information into actionable intelligence, applying this to inform a response and monitoring action taken.
  • Experience of developing intelligence products, using different communication methods to engage confidently with a range of stakeholders.
  • Practical knowledge of the National Intelligence Model and intelligence procedures.
  • Practical knowledge of the Government Security Classifications.
  • Understanding of the protocols involved in dealing with intelligence agencies, law enforcement and other public authorities.
  • Understanding the role of a modern regulator working in a diverse sector.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.
