Operations Manager

Salary: £40-50k depending on experience

Working hours: 8am - 5pm, Monday to Friday

About the role

KG Electrical are looking for an Operations Manager.

The successful candidate will take a lead role within the company, getting involved to ensure a seamless experience for customers and colleagues. You will manage the day-to-day functioning of the business, keeping the company efficient and productive. This includes liaising with engineers/contractors/suppliers to ensure the company is able to complete projects on time and also engaging with existing customers and potential customers to organise jobs/appointments/estimates/site visits etc.

Main responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the company's continual improvement and development, bringing forward thinking ideas for discussion

Customer service

  • Be first point of contact for clients, building professional and warm relationships
  • Provide estimates to clients where appropriate
  • Liaise with clients to ensure job progression
  • Invoice clients following completion of jobs or stages within jobs
  • Look for business development opportunities with existing customers
  • Enquire for reviews and access to take professional photos
  • Deal with queries/complaints as they arise

Logistics and office management

  • Answer phones, providing customer service support and serving as gate keeper to ensure only essential calls reach the Director
  • Manage the Director's diary for appointments, site visits etc.
  • Book/schedule training days/appointments/visitors etc.
  • Manage the office team members

Procurement

  • Oversee the necessary procurement for the company
  • Liaise with wholesalers to procure materials for jobs / stock
  • Commissioning of external contractors / suppliers / support team

Engineers

  • Be first point of contact for engineers
  • Organise logistics of jobs for all engineers
  • Ensure engineers provide job notes in a timely manner

People Management

  • Support the recruitment/retention of onsite engineers
  • Onboarding new members of staff to ensure they settle into their role quickly
  • Lead the staff appraisals/review process
  • Active participation in our social events to ensure you are a key part of the team

Business Development and Marketing

  • Create or recommend target markets
  • Approach potential clients
  • Build relationships with potential clients
  • Liaise with external companies as required during marketing programs
  • Liaise with photographer for access to sites for photos of the works

Compliance

  • Organise all reoccurring accreditations - CHAS/NICEIC
  • Liaise with external H&S company as required
  • Completion of test certificates on Easy Cert
  • Notifications of works to NICEIC
  • Annual insurance renewals process for the company.

About you

Essential

1. Experience in logistics and / or operations

2. Ability to work under pressure & to multitask

3. Proven skills in problem solving

4. An ability to adapt and drive organisational change.

5. A team player who can collaborate comfortably with a range of people

6. Strong interpersonal skills with an immaculate telephone manner

7. Detailed orientated and a meticulous approach to all tasks

8. Comfortable using and learning technological tools; a proficient user of the MS office suite

9. Driving license

Desirable

1. Experience in the electrical or construction industry

2. Experience in a similar role at another company

3. Experience in a management, supervisory or HR role

4. Experience in marketing including editing Wordpress websites, Google My Business

5. Experience using a CRMs or Database
