Senior Finance Analyst

Reed Finance is excited to offer this opportunity for a fully qualified accountant to join an organisation that is making a significant impact in the local community. The role would support and deputise for the Finance Manager and is crucial for ensuring accurate and efficient financial reporting and analysis to the Board and Senior Management Team. The successful candidate will play a key role in financial management and governance, as well as in financial modelling for business opportunities and service re-shaping.

Day to Day of the Role:

  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations, including prepayments, accruals, and balance sheet accounts.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure accurate data recording and prompt action on finance/budget changes.
  • Reconcile internal company accounts receivable & accounts payable.
  • Prepare payment schedules for accounts receivable from commission bodies contracts.
  • Process payroll journals, recharges, corrections, and update establishment budget monitoring spreadsheets.
  • Maintain staffing establishment records and ensure they reflect the current position accurately.
  • Analyse departmental overtime, bank, and agency spends, reporting findings to the Senior Management Team monthly.
  • Prepare journals for month-end, recharges to cost centres, and provide commentary.
  • Reconcile income monthly and make necessary accruals or adjustments.
  • Prepare monthly Budget monitoring pack and attend monthly Finance review meetings.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual and 5-year budgets, forecasts, and month-end reporting.
  • Prepare budget files for uploading into the finance system and undertake year-end audit reconciliations.
  • Support the preparation of statutory accounts and review coding of expenses and income.
  • Process bank reconciliations and support a ‘can do' culture within the finance team.
  • Deputise for the Finance Manager as needed.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and other finance tasks as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Experience in financial reporting, analysis, and budgeting.
  • Strong understanding of financial management and governance principles.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience within a local authority, charity or care sector would be highly beneficial
