A fantastic opportunity to assist with our financial systems and data. You will have the chance to be involved in system implementations in the near future.

Job Title

: Finance Officer – Analysis and Data Maintenance

Salary: Up to £42,000 depending on experience

Location: Stevenage

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 2 days per week on-site (after initial training period on site)

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship.

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

An opportunity has arisen to join MBDA's Group Planning, Reporting and Accounting team, assisting the team with its reporting activities. We provide useful, concise and accurate reporting to the business, senior management and shareholders. The team consists of five people and, while based in Stevenage, the team operates in a multi-national environment, liaising with Finance teams from six MBDA countries daily.

You will be responsible for:

  • the maintenance, updating and improvement of the Group Finance SAP BW reporting tool.
  • extracting and analysing certain elements of financial data, from the SAP BW tool, to support monthly reporting, annual budgets, strategic business plans and adhoc reporting as required.

This role will help you understand how the financial performance of contracts, including multi national contracts, is analysed and reported on across the MBDA Group.

You will be focused on maintaining, or developing and expanding, SAP BW systems skills and, in the future, the role will give the opportunity to gain experience of SAP S4/HANA.

Activities will include:

  • Creation and maintenance of the MBDA Group SAP BW tool master data, user profiles and hierarchies.
  • Making systematic checks that the data loads and interfaces from source systems are robust. Input and consolidation of data into SAP BW. Subsequent validation and analysis of that data, supporting the monthly reporting, annual budgets and strategic business planning processes.
  • Collaborating closely with both the Programme Finance Controllers and the Group Finance Manager to ensure reliability of data. Ensuring that all users gain maximum benefits from using the systems.
  • Undertaking reporting development activities and query creation using the modelling tool BEX analyser.
  • Responsible for loading and maintaining users within the WSS (MBDA Group wide shared storage) environment and the Group's datacentre mailbox.

What we're looking for from you:

  • An understanding of the importance of the integrity of master data is essential.
  • An aptitude for, and interest in, maintaining and updating financial reporting databases is essential.
  • A basic understanding of accounting terminology and principles is essential. Knowledge of the financial accounting and management of long-term contracts would be helpful, but not essential.
  • Intermediate Excel skills are essential, advanced skills are desirable.
  • Ability to identify errors or omissions in data, and the reasons behind, them is essential.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with our international partners is key.
  • Experience of SAP BW, or equivalent financial reporting databases, would be desirable.
  • As MBDA will be transitioning to Analysis for Office and SAP S4/HANA in the future, experience of these tools would be a real benefit.
