Sales & Estimating Engineer

Location: Cheshire

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Sales Estimator to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business. This role will be responsible for managing the estimating process while supporting the development of new business opportunities.

It would ideally suit an experienced Sales Estimator or someone with a machining background looking to transition into a more commercial, client-facing position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate estimates and quotations in response to customer enquiries
  • Ensure quotation deadlines are met and proactively follow up for feedback and outcomes
  • Build and maintain part and BOM data, updating relevant internal systems
  • Support the growth of the customer base through market research, outreach, and both in-person and virtual meetings
  • Occasionally travel to customer sites as required
  • Liaise with internal departments to coordinate technical requirements, lead times, and production capabilities
  • Source raw materials and request quotations to support accurate costings
  • Identify required subcontract services and obtain pricing and lead times from approved suppliers

About You:

  • A solid technical background, ideally in CNC machining or a related manufacturing process
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A proactive team player with a positive attitude and strong communication skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities effectively

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience within a manufacturing environment – preferably with a machining background
  • Technical qualifications or training would be advantageous
  • This role could also suit a machinist seeking to move into a sales or estimating position
