The Academy have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and inspirational leader who has extension experience in teaching Engineering or Design & Technology at Key Stage 3, 4 and 5. The successful candidate will not only be able to deliver exciting and effective learning in the classroom but will also liaise with the Engineering department and other Faculty Leaders to develop the Academy's overall academic strategy.We are seeking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Faculty Leader of Engineering who has a passion for Technology and developing teaching and learning. This post offers an excellent opportunity for you to join a driven and innovative department. Leading Technology and Engineering at The UCL Academy is a dynamic and exciting role, we aspire to have a curriculum which is both inspiring and engaging; it is connected to The UCL Grand Challenges and supports learner's progress into Key Stage 4 and 5. We have one of the largest cohorts of GCSE and A Level students and are seeking to introduce a new GCSE in Design and Technology to make the subject even more attractive, currently we have 3 GCSE groups studying Engineering and 1 Food, Preparation & Nutrition group. The Engineering team is supportive, proactive and dedicated to ensuring that every child at The UCL Academy is able to flourish and grow.We offer training and development opportunities and elements of the role will include:
  • Being responsible for developing the curriculum and ensuring Academy wide curriculum aims are met;
  • Monitoring data, progress and attainment for all students;
  • Managing all aspects of the faculty, including line management, professional development and maintaining the ethos of teamwork and collaboration that the faculty has at its heart.
  • Undertake the duties of a form tutor;
  • Line manage Assistant Curriculum Leaders within the Engineering team.

The Engineering department are take pride in regularly updating their knowledge and skills; units are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect the world we live in. We have a thriving sixth form, which includes an Engineering A Level group, it is our aspiration to ensure as many students as possible can study Engineering at this level. We are proud of the excellent A level and GCSE results that we achieved last year, and the friendly, and work focused relationship that the Engineering staff engender with the students.
