Description

  • Overseeing the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organisational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives
  • Producing financial reports and developing strategies based on financial research
  • Guiding financial decisions by establishing, monitoring and enforcing policies and procedures
  • Protecting assets by establishing, monitoring and enforcing internal controls
  • Maximising return and limiting risk by managing bank balances
  • Complying with federal, state and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions
  • Keeping up-to-date on information and technology affecting functional area to increase innovation and ensure compliance
  • Coordinating with external auditors and managing internal controls

Profile

A successful Assistant Finance Manager should have:

  • A relevant degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
  • Proven experience as a finance manager in the not for profit sector
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
  • A strong understanding of data analysis and forecasting
  • Proficiency in MS Office and finance software
