Reed Engineering and Manufacturing are recruiting on behalf of a client in the metrology sector. We are looking for a Measurement Specialist/CMM Programmer to join a UK leader in Contract Inspection and CMM Programming. This role offers the opportunity to work with both UK and global customers and is based at Coventry

Day to Day of the role

  • Create CMM programs to inspect customer parts on dedicated inspection equipment.
  • Install CMM programs at customer sites throughout the UK and Ireland.
  • Use and program other inspection equipment as required.
  • Understand and interpret customer requirements and drawings.
  • Apply manufacturing and mechanical knowledge.
  • Visit customer sites and operate in a customer-facing role.
  • Estimate work duration for quoting purposes.
  • Interpret and manipulate customer CAD models.
  • Interpret drawings in relation to international standards.
  • Develop measurement programs and inspection strategies.
  • Provide customer technical support as required.
  • Promote and comply with company Health and Safety policy.
  • Maintain records of work carried out.
  • Complete measurement tasks utilising a range of dimensional measurement equipment.
  • Assist with the preparation of quotations.
  • Liaise with clients to evaluate needs and establish requirements.
  • Represent the company in a professional manner.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Expert level understanding of metrology principles, including engineering drawings, geometric tolerancing, standards, and CAD systems.
  • Proficiency in IT systems and software.
  • Ability to work independently and take responsibility for work.
  • Willingness to develop technical skills to improve the range and effectiveness of duties performed.
  • Openness to undertake additional duties as requested by the line manager.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in designing fixtures.
  • Some IT knowledge and proficiency.
