Part Time Assistant Accountant - 22 hours

Elevation Accountancy and Finance are delighted to be working with a great business in Sheffield as they look to recruit a Part Time Assistant Accountant into their team on a permanent basis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation and monitoring of cash flows and treasury management, accounting for Fixed Assets, producing working papers to support the monthly financial reporting and Statutory Accounts including working papers for auditors and responding to requests for accounting information.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To support with Financial Accounting and Treasury Management by ensuring systems are in place and information is maintained to produce draft cashflow forecasts, propose investment and loans required to manage cashflow, maintain fixed assets and capital accounting records and other workings which support the annual statement of accounts
  • Ensuring appropriate systems of financial control exist to provide effective monitoring of capital, treasury management and financial accounting throughout the organisation and to provide appropriate monitoring to support reporting
  • Maintaining an internal financial control, policy and procedural framework that meets relevant professional and best practice standards for promoting effective financial management, control and reporting.
  • To carry out the reconciliation and accounting with financial accounting, capital and treasury management tasks lists which underpin reporting
  • To monitor and take action to record fixed assets
  • To prepare and input journals as required
  • To assist with year-end procedures and final accounts as required
  • To provide ad hoc costings and projections as and when required
  • To prepare statutory returns for approval

Person Specification:

  • Qualified at AAT or equivalent
  • Must hold GCE/GCSE English and Maths at Grade C or above
  • An understanding of public sector accounting, financial management and legislative and regulatory frameworks
  • Communication skills both written and verbal
  • Strong professional/technical, analytical and problems solving ability
  • Knowledge of procedures required to maintain accurate records of financial transactions
  • Understanding of the importance of providing a quality support service
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
