Macmillan Davies have been retained by a Lancashire based business who are experts in the distribution and manufacture of specialist engineering components. This highly successful business continues to grow rapidly by acquisition and has the backing of a FTSE 100 plc. I am delighted to be supporting the Group People Director to attract an experienced HR Advisor to join their supportive and collaborative team based in the Preston area.

This is an integral role within the People team and is responsible for providing an advisory service to line managers and employees across all functions of the business. Reporting into the Group People Director, you will provide generalist HR support and employee relations advice, supporting and coaching managers.

Working on a hybrid basis, with 2 days in the office, some home working and occasional travel to different sites (full driving license is required). This role requires an experienced HR Advisor, able to work comfortably with high levels of autonomy. The successful candidate will need to display high level of competence and understanding of HR Advisory processes, Employment Law and be experienced managing an ER caseload.

Duties and Responsibilities will include:

  • Advising and coaching of managers on all ER issues across the business, ensuring fair and consistent application of policy and procedures
  • Dealing with employee and manager queries quickly and efficiently, in a professional manner
  • Supporting with processes and procedures for any Tupe, re-structures, mergers, acquisitions and organisational change
  • Support managers with recruitment related activities
  • Guiding managers on absence management and taking ownership of long-term sick management
  • Supporting any employment tribunal processes from beginning to end
  • Provide coaching and training to managers on any HR related topics
  • Using and maintaining the HRIS, produce and analyse MI
  • Supporting in delivering the people plan
  • Proactively contributing to people process and procedural improvements where necessary

Experience & Skills required:

  • Relevant HR Advisory experience and excellent knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR practices
  • Strong HR generalist experience across all areas Employee Relations
  • Ideally qualified to CIPD Level 5 (or equivalent)
  • Experience working in a fast-paced business environment
  • Strong communication skills, confident and personable approach
  • Coaching skills and ability to influence and build strong relationships with stakeholders
  • Driving licence is essential for this role in order to comfortably travel to different locations when required (1-2 days per week)
