Interim Head of Business Intelligence

We have partnered with a healthcare business who are looking for an Interim Head of Business Intelligence to grow and lead their analytics and reporting operations. This role requires a combination of technical, strategic, and leadership skills to enhance the BI function. This is an initial 12-month contract, Outside IR35
Responsibilities of the Head of Business Intelligence.
- Lead on analytics, in the design, development, and deployment of analytical models and data-driven solutions.
- Analyse complex datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and insights that inform strategic decisions.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams and senior leadership to understand business needs and deliver data-driven recommendations and reports.
- Continuously explore new technologies, methodologies, and best practices in data analytics to enhance the businesses capabilities.
- Work with stakeholders to understand business challenges and extend the availability and effective use of data to inform decisions.
- Oversee the BI environment, including user access, permissions, data sources, and workspaces, optimising performance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with security and governance policies.
- Establish and maintain policies, procedures, and standards to ensure data quality, accuracy, security, and compliance.
- Define and promote best practice, standards, and governance frameworks for business intelligence, data analysis and self-service.
Skills required for the Head of Business Intelligence.
- Previous experience in a leadership position within business intelligence or related areas, with knowledge of data visualisation and data governance
- Proven expertise in data modelling, statistical analysis, and the use of analytics and visualisation tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R, Tableau, Power BI)
- Strong understanding of data warehousing, ETL processes, and cloud-based data analytics platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure)
- Experience of building powerful dashboards using BI software
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record of effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
