Correspondence Officer

Are you a proactive and skilled communicator with a keen interest in politics? Our client, an esteemed organisation, is currently seeking a Parliamentary Correspondence Officer to join their dynamic team. As a key part of the correspondence unit, you will play a vital role in coordinating responses to elected representatives across the UK. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the smooth operation of our client's communication channels and ensure that accurate and timely responses are provided.

Start ASAP, duration 6 months, pay £15.50ph, hours full time, Monday to Friday, this is a hybrid role and the location of the office is Canary Wharf.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and respond to correspondence from elected representatives, ensuring prompt and accessible replies
  • Support the Information Rights Team in handling Freedom of Information, Environmental Information Regulation, and Subject Access Requests
  • Foster strong relationships across all directorates to meet statutory deadlines
  • Provide advice and training to teams on response preparation
  • Monitor relevant inboxes, promptly logging and actioning cases
  • Stay informed about political developments and escalate sensitive issues when necessary
  • Offer administrative support to the Information Rights and Correspondence team
  • Support the wider communications team as needed

Essential Criteria:

  • Has political awareness in the context of our organisation.
  • Ability to absorb complex information quickly and communicate it clearly, in writing and orally, to staff at all
  • Excellent proofreading skills, attention to detail and ability to identify what angles will be of interest to external
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to develop and nurture contacts across all teams within our client.

Self-starter with experience of prioritising a varied and complex workload, to ensure competing demands and unpredictable deadlines are met.
