About the Role:

My client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced

Low Carbon Pathways

Project Manager

to join the team in driving the transition to a low-carbon future in the Tees Valley area. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate with Local Authorities and strategic partners to originate and develop commercially investable renewable energy and low-carbon projects that align with local net zero goals.

Responsibilities

As part of a government-funded regional delivery organization, you will play a crucial role in shaping and advancing the region's clean growth agenda by:

  • Project Development: Leading the process of identifying, developing, and progressing a pipeline of low carbon and renewable energy projects. You will provide expert guidance and support to Local Authorities and public sector bodies to ensure projects are viable, impactful, and aligned with regional and national net zero strategies.
  • Business Case Management: Overseeing the creation of robust business cases for these projects, utilizing evidence-based approaches and ensuring they are attractive to commercial investors. Experience with the Green Book business case model, particularly at the Outline stage, is highly valued.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Acting as the key liaison with Local Authorities, public bodies, and other stakeholders to foster collaboration and ensure an integrated approach to project delivery. You will also be responsible for communicating progress, challenges, and successes to key stakeholders, including reporting to national departments and the Hub's leadership.
  • Policy and Technical Expertise: Providing expert advice on policy and technical matters to support the development of investable projects. Your insights will help secure the necessary financial support, including commercial investment, to bring projects to fruition.

Experience

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in energy/low carbon technologies or capital project development, with a proven track record of managing and delivering complex projects.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, communication, facilitation, and negotiation skills. You should be comfortable managing stakeholder relationships and navigating the challenges of public sector project development.
  • Knowledge: A deep understanding of net zero policies, the Green Book business case model, and the unique challenges faced in developing public sector projects.
  • Competencies: A commitment to excellence, continuous learning, and effective communication. You should be adept at leading multidisciplinary teams, resolving issues, and ensuring projects meet their strategic objectives.
