Chief Operating Officer

My client, a small but rapidly growing membership organisation within the health sector, with offices based in Central London, seeks a dynamic and proactive Chief Operating Officer to work alongside the Chief Executive.

This is a hybrid role, which requires 3 days to be based in the office, with the option of 2 from home.

The main purpose of this role is;

To ensure that all operational governance, finance and HR matters of the organisation are dealt with effectively and to the highest standard. You will also be responsible for compliance with the requirements of the Charity Commission and assist with digital development of the organisation to reflect strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities will include;

Work closely with CEO and Senior Management team to develop and implement the charity's strategy.

Liaise with the Board of Trustees, Executive and Council preparing agendas and papers for meetings, attending the meetings and taking Minutes.

Ensure all aspects of Governance is managed effectively.

Companies House/Charity Commission filing.

Management of the HR function to include administration using HR database, induction of new staff, Officers and Trustees.

Management of the election process for committee members.

Ensure governance of the charity is dealt with effectively including all policies and procedures implementing change where necessary.

Be the Data Protection Officer for the charity ensuring that the charity is GDPR compliant.

Preparation and management of budgets with the CEO.

Prepare tender documents and lead process for external providers of services.

With the CEO, drive a culture of continuous improvement in all support areas of the charity.

Deputise for the CEO when required.

Attend and support the Annual Conference which takes place over four days in June each year.

The right candidate for this role will have proven experience in a senior leadership role. In addition to this, have a track record of managing, motivating and directing individuals to achieve high quality outcomes.

Experience in operational management, including governance, HR and finance is also essential, preferably within the charity sector.

Salary 65K - 70K plus benefits, including a generous pension scheme.
