About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Practice Bookkeeper on behalf of our client. They are a well-established accountancy firm known for providing comprehensive financial services to a diverse range of clients. This role is ideal for a skilled bookkeeper with experience in practice. The key software proficiency they are looking for is someone with strong experience in Xero and Dext, as well as familiarity with various VAT schemes.

Role Overview: As a Practice Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for managing a variety of bookkeeping tasks for multiple clients. You will work closely with the accounting team to ensure that all financial records are accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with current regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of bookkeeping within a practice environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for a portfolio of clients.
  • Process and reconcile client accounts using Xero and Dext software.
  • Handle accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate processing of transactions.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns, working with various VAT schemes (e.g., Standard, Flat Rate, Cash Accounting).
  • Liaise with clients to gather necessary financial information and answer any bookkeeping-related queries.
  • Assist with the preparation of management accounts and financial statements as required.
  • Conduct regular bank reconciliations and manage cash flow monitoring for clients.
  • Support the year-end process by preparing accurate trial balances and supporting documentation.
  • Stay updated on changes in tax regulations and ensure compliance with all relevant laws and guidelines.
  • Provide training and support to junior members of the team, if required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping experience within an accountancy practice.
  • Proficiency in Xero and Dext (formerly Receipt Bank) is essential.
  • Strong understanding of various VAT schemes and the ability to prepare accurate VAT returns.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple client accounts efficiently.
